The phase is a state where you’re fully aware that you are not in the ordinary, everyday world, even though everything feels as vivid and lifelike as reality.
How is the phase different from the “astral” plane?
The astral is essentially the same state as the phase but is thought of as an external world rather than an unusual state of consciousness. The same can be said about what people refer to as “out-of-body experiences.”
How is the phase different from lucid dreaming?
There is no difference, as long as you properly understand the term “lucid dreaming.” Lucid dreaming happens when you are dreaming and realize that everything around you is part of a dream, which enables you to do whatever you want.
Why introduce a new term?
The idea behind using the term “the phase” is to avoid the unfair prejudices associated with other terms and to communicate information in a fresh way.
Is it dangerous?
It can be, particularly for those with certain conditions, like cardiovascular issues, or if a fear-induced shock is experienced during the phase. To ensure your safety, it’s important to learn techniques for making an emergency exit from the phase.
What can the practice be used for?
The answer to this question is covered in the article “The Applications of Lucid Dreaming and Out-of-Body Experiences.”

I haven’t had any success yet. How long should I keep trying?
While many people succeed on their first try, most people who use indirect techniques every night to attempt to enter the phase typically succeed within 2–6 weeks. Using direct techniques is more challenging and takes more time.
Why am I not succeeding?
In 95% of cases, people hit a wall because they start their attempts to enter the phase (lucid dreaming, astral projection) with direct techniques. But for the vast majority of people, direct techniques are too difficult to begin with. There is a much easier path to this extraordinary experience through awakening, and that’s where you should start.
Why do I feel vibrations, but nothing else happens?
They may not be the right vibrations. If you’ve already had a successful experience and things aren’t working now, just keep trying. If you have no prior experience, these probably aren’t the right vibrations, or they came at the wrong moment. Either way, there’s no point in trying to force it. Forget about vibrations; you can have success without them.
Why am I in the right state but unable to separate?
You’re likely not in the right state. If you were, you would have no problems with separation. This is the case about 90% of the time.
Why am I quickly kicked out of the phase (lucid dream, astral projection)?
You likely need to spend more time studying techniques for maintaining the phase. It’s a whole science on its own. If you don’t develop these techniques, your experiences will be short.
Why is everything blurry and unclear in the phase?
You likely need to learn techniques for deepening. There aren’t just two states (“there” or “not there”). Rather, there is a scale of states, and sometimes you need specific techniques to reach the optimal phase state.
Is there an astral cord?
If you believe in it, then yes, you’ll experience it, though not always.
Can two or more people meet in the phase if they agree to do so?
Yes and no. You might agree to meet at a specific location and then discuss the experience in real life. However, the extent of the overlap will be around 30–80%, and the rest might differ significantly. It’s like the Internet. Everyone thinks they’re “entering” it, but in reality, they’re sitting at home in front of their computer, with the screen creating the illusion of being in the same place. In this case, it’s your powerful subconscious mind constructing a shared image and calculating the other participant’s actions.
Can I see a note with a code left by someone in real life during the phase (lucid dream, astral projection)?
It’s possible, but what will actually be written on that note?
Is it necessary to see my body on the bed?
If you expect to see it, then yes, you will. If not, then no.
