Re: Near death experiences

I've always believed that body and mind are 2 different things. Actually, here, in the forum, there is a blind practitioner. I think that his nickname is Alchemist. Phase experiences can be priceless for people with disabilities. Has Alchemist reported visual perception in the phase? It depends on ...

Re: Near death experiences

Hello Bo, I like this topic alot,I think it is the ultimate question really.Opinions seem to vary here as best as I can tell. For now, personally I come down on the side of survival of consciousness- in some form or another.I read the same book and found the data very convincing.I also recommend readi...

Re: "Dream Characters" and Conflict

Yes,ethos, that makes sense.I am open to some type of explanation like this. This could be a reflection of some aspect of my deep psyche related to some issue or another...I'll have to think on it. And there does seem to be characters that are undoubtedly 'thought forms' to use the occult terminology....

Re: "Dream Characters" and Conflict

The police have actually shown up in a few of my experiences..LOL! Once I OBEd from a body that was apparently asleep on the floor of a strange house. I walked out of the front door and a police car screeched up to the driveway.A cop got out with mirror Raybans on and everything. He pointed at me an...

Funny comments from phase people?

There's a good thread on 'dreamviews' called "Dream Characters Say the Damndest Things." I thought that it might be much more fun here since there are so many fewer people. Two of my favorites: 1.I'm spinning to maintain in this town environment while surrounded by people milling about.I'm...

Re: New twist on finding objects & people?

I just realized that I have tried this before but in a different way. Sometimes in the phase,my dream body seems to become less dense and it starts to float without me really trying. A few times I've allowed myself to be carried away to where ever..by not making any decisions or directed movements. ...

Re: Your favorite technique for translocating.

I used to intend for new locations when flying up through ceilings, but this doesn't seem to work too much lately. It seems like the phase becomes immune to certain methods of manipulation and one has to switch up on it alot,I guess like Michael said. Spinning and going through doors has worked well ...

New twist on finding objects & people?

I OBEd three times last night and this morning with indirect techniques.(Before I read SOBT I called this 'DEILD'-dream exit induced lucid dream) On my last one I remembered my goal which was to reverse the intention behind the technique for finding objects and people as we call it here.Instead of t...

Re: Do Dreams Mean or Represent Anything?

I also enjoyed the article on learning and the brain.I have been a guitar player obsessed with speed, scales and memorizing musical pieces most of my life -so this hit home with me.Something worth mentioning here is that I often experience entire pieces of music in my dreams, fully formed and origina...

Re: Do Dreams Mean or Represent Anything?

Good topic, Dream content can be most definitely meaningful!(though there seems to be nonsense as well)The symbolic representations and senarios experienced by the ego,to me,often seem to have been reflected upon, assembled and presented in ways that demonstrate hidden creativity, intelligence, wisdom ...

Re: Art inspired by the Phase

Good stuff, nice work. I once saw myself in a mirror much the same way-all melted looking and such. It actually jolted me to lucidity,I turned away ,leaned on a wall and said to myself "holy $h!t !.... Yup,I'm dreaming"

Re: Lucidity in the first REM period

I had a very long phase shortly after sleep onset only once.It was lucid, stable, bright and clear-and one of my all time favorites, although I forgot some segments of it. I had used the WILD method.I haven't been able to repeat something like this since and no unusual techniques were used-I didn't try...

Re: Ric: the journey of an old gnostic.

Hello Ric,
I just read through this all and I was wondering if you have had any more experiences with your son in the phase? How's it going?

( I am sympathetic to this cause and have also had some strange experiences of my own about my daughter in regard to her health and behavior.)

:D I had my first OBE of the week this morning. Yeah,at the end of the day we don't really know.. that's why I try to give all logically valid theories equal consideration. Anyway,I wonder how many reports of precognitive dreams have some life or safety threatening aspects to them? I'm curious because about 5 years ago on vacation in Poland I thi...

Re: I just had to share this!!!

Very cool!  ;D I'm curious about your personal interpretation if you care to share it.Do you think this was precognitive or coincidence? IMHO, Personally I don't believe these types of dreams are coincidence at all,I've had a few myself too.I think this dream is very interesting because it might hav...

Re: In what age you had first OBE/lucid dreaming?

I had a few spontaneous LDs/pre-LDs throughout childhood. At least one OBE,maybe around 8 or 9. Then a powerful, but isolated, LD in my early twenties. I didn't have any more until my mid to early thirties after I had read in depth about them and created an active interest. But even then I didn't have ...

Ed Kellogg's Lucid Dream Challenges

The philosophy here is try it and see for yourself.  I like this very much, however we can still debate the meaning of the results based on each of our personal bias and world views. With that aside,I'll link to Ed Kellogg's experimental challenges here for those of you who wish to try. This one was ...

;D No worries,I agree that nothing has been proven. Someone once said to me " you can connect any star in the sky if you want to."

Part of the fun is trying to figure things out,I'm just glad to discuss this stuff somewhere...I'm not really too attached to any one theory though...

I say go for it MercuryMoth, As for myself,I have found that the closer my percieved environment resembles that of my waking world, the more likely a 'foul' becomes. In this situation, I experience difficulty in moving (apparently) away from my sleeping body's location. This occurred the other night fo...

Re: Healing in the Phase

A very interesting view point Ric. I think the placebo and nocebo effects support what you're saying-kinda goes along with the shaman's method it seems. Our mental attitudes and beliefs do effect our health which does seem like nonphysical causation. About the laws, who knows? Some scientists think t...

Summerlander, "Through the Wormhole" kicks ass,no ? About the NDE of Eben Alexander:Notice the very important point that his neocortex was 'trashed.' This fact seems to make it difficult to maintain the idea that his brain -in and of itself- was the sole generator of this experience. As he...

Re: Healing in the Phase

Hello Ric, Yeh,I was skeptical at first myself, but I tried it out of sheer desperation anyway. It does seem like there is some natural constraint that prevents these things from being widely experienced.I wonder if this is simply due to the fact that there are so few phase practitioners in the over a...

Re: Are OBE, astral and lucid dreaming the same?

Yes,that is strange about memory.I've read that too.We can tend to remember things from a 'third person perspective' rather then from the way we had originally experienced. Some dreams are like this too, like watching a movie play out from a camera view, this amazes me to no end when I think of it. I h...
