Hi I am a phase state researcher and I used to be just like you. I "tried" on and off to "astral project" from April 2009 to June 2011 with no success. The problem was that I wasn't dedicated enough and doubted that I could actually do it.

In october 2011 I tried again after finding this website yet I had a lot more dedication. I started writing a book and said "im not gunna give up until I have an experience. On my second attempt I induced a full blown sleep paralysis experience which gave me enough confidence to continue my attempts. Pretty soon I experienced the phase and ever since then I have never turned back.

What I recommend is that you make a multistep plan of what you want to do within the phase then memorize and desire the hell out of it. Set an alarm at 4am then wake up, go to the toilet and return to bed without turning lights on. Lie on your back and remain completely still (including your eyes) for about 1 hour while mentally chanting that you are entering the phase, imagine yourself performing your plan of action and remember to perform a reality check upon any awakening.

If you don't automatically enter the phase from a waking state after one hour of remaining completely motionless then just go to sleep and your chances of having a false awakening will skyrocket. Once you wake up after some vivid dreams you should be in the phase so just perform a reality check (pinch your nose and try to breath in feeling the cold air go down the back of your throat). Then boom, your concious and you can now complete your plan of action.

For some extra encouragement here is a video of one of my earliest phase experiences in which I use a false awakening to enter the phase (just like I described above): http://youtu.be/xtWwcAStO54

P.s. You can check out more of my experiences by visiting my blog in the link within my signature. I'll have more video remakes of my experiences in a few months :)

Good luck, don't give up and you will succeed :)
