Applying to be moderator?

I am getting sick of seeing spam (right now I see 10 spam posts) yet not being able to instantly remove it (instead I must use the report button). I am the 3rd most active user on this site, have a pinned blog, and I'm the first and only person so far to make video recreations of my phase experiences.
Overall I believe I would be a good choice for an additional moderator. I am happy to take this role as I want this site protected from spam at any cost. It bugs me more than waiting in the rain or being run over by a car (lol, just joking on that last one).
Anyway, what does one need to do to put in a request to be a moderator? Is it a certain amount of time signed up? A certain post count? Or is it more of an "email micheal" type thing?

Michael has already picked moderators to remove the spammers. I've dealt with them with might mighty magic wand!

I vote for 12padams being moderator. There is now a lot of spam coming in all the time, and it's often quite annoying.

Dealt with them. Raduga might decide we need another mod. Who knows. For the time being, for as long as I live here, I shall eradicate them!! Begone, soulless spammers!!!

Thanks summerlander... But I've emailed micheal so hopefully I'll be able to back you up... This is too much for you to deal with by yourself

I agree 12Padams. Summerlander needs some backup in removing the spam and I think you would be a good choice.
Summerlander - you are doing a good job but sometimes an additional helping hand can be useful.

I know, I noticed last night that there was over 100 spam posts. Nightmare. I wonder if there is a software update for the forum that might provide some protection against this sort of stuff??

There is. Blahrg from Astral Viewers had one. Raduga might be able to get one.

Here is a link to all versions of the forum software. Looks like the version at the moment is several revisions old 2.0 RC1-1.
http://download.simplemachines.org/inde ... ;start=150
The latest version is 2.0.2 An update should sort all the issues and provide you with some relief Summerlander from dealing with the nuisance spam.

Cool! We should run this by Michael. We could do with an update.

Hey, where are they all? We're you just tricking us?
Nah, gone now
Say hello to 12padams, the new (but not replacement) moderator!
Micheal Logged in and removed that horrible main spammer GeogeCook or whatever his name was. Then he added me to the moderators list after seeing my emailed request and boom, I wiped out the last 20 spam posts I could find.
Hopefully this site will remain mostly spam free from now on. I log on at least once a day so you will never see the same spam post 24 hours later.
Now, we can discus the phase is peace

Hello, my fellow mod.
I wonder if there is a way for mods to delete spam accounts rather than just deleting their posts one by one...

Micheal may have to add that to our list of permissions... If that's possible. Either that or he promotes us to admins but I think that's overkill lol

Hehehe! Yeah. Either way, at least now he's got both of us to deal with the zombies!

Good job guys. It will be nice to see a spam free forum. I certainly haven't been spamming the forum lately with phase experiences. Hopefully my dry period will soon end.

Don't worry, the phase always comes back... No matter how much you think it's gone. My worst phase dry spell was about 80 days and everything was hopeless mainly because I was so busy. I tried doing things to make it better such as switching techniques and getting confidence and it worked. No matter what happens, Never give up!
If worst comes to worst you can wait a week or so for me to post my sleep simulation technique which allows you to consciously skip non-rem sleep and quickly slip into rem sleep in just 20 minutes rather than an hour. Overall your phase entry chances skyrocket! And it can be used (although I don't) with micheals indirect techniques to increase your chances of a conscious awakening. I think I'll do an experiment post soon to see how many people here can consciously skip non-rem sleep just to make sure I don't just have a unique gift...
