Body temperature affecting ease of separation?
Now I don't know about anyone else, but the first time I separated, after I returned to my body and became fully lucid, I realized I was hot. Over the last 10 days or so, I've made a conscious choice to stay cooler in bed. (Fewer sheets, cooler clothes, etc.) I have had no luck in having a second phase over those 10 days; I find I don't even think about it when I awaken.
My sleep patterns seem to be different depending on whether I'm hot or cold. When I'm cold, even a little bit, I tend to have nightmares or not dream at all, and sleep all the way through the night. When I'm hot, I'll have more vivid, pleasant dreams and often wake up at some point before morning. I also seem to wake up slower, which in turn seems to me like it would give me more time to separate.
Am I just throwing around random thoughts, or is there a possibility that your body's temperature might affect how easily you can leave it?

Hi. good idea.. when i read your post is remembered that my all LD's were then i was hot . maybe its easer way to be liucid in the dream. Also tonight i had awesom LD and I fell asleep then i was hot. I had eight LD's in a row. it was very long experience. i think then you are hot you can't sleep very deep becouse there is 1 problem like perspiration and it will wake up you at night . And i think then you can't sleep very deep and you are between awakening and sleep,, like REM or maybe REM. im not specialist, just thinking.

Sure enough, it was hot in my room and I bundled up, and last night I think I had a brief phase experience. It was confused and short, but I equate that more with my inexperience than with anything else. I think I may have stumbled upon something here.

Maybe, there is a correlation, but in major cases it depends on individual predispositions. For example, the most comfortable pattern for me is when it's cold in the room but warmly under the blanket. Usually it's really cold where I used to live.
Anyway, if you cannot succeed in the phase entry, it means you make mistakes.

Re: Body temperature affecting ease of separation?
I'd say it's a big factor. There is a tight correlation between body temperature and the ultradian cycle (which includes your body's ability to enter REM sleep). While REM sleep isn't necessary to separate from your body or enter a lucid dream it can make things hella lot easier.
Quite interestingly, the body's temperature regulation shuts off during REM sleep and if you sleep in a hot room, REM-sleep will be supressed to prevent your brain from overheating. I don't think manipulating external temperature will give you an edge but I've never messed with it either. It's best to keep your legs warm and your head cold, be patient and trust in the process.

Re: Body temperature affecting ease of separation?
I find it easier to separate when I'm cold (but not freezing!) because it makes creating vibrations easier.
Re: Body temperature affecting ease of separation?
When I'm hot, I wake up thinking I'm hot and not thinking about phasing.
When I'm cold, I wake up thinking I'm cold and not thinking about phasing.
I do what I need to do to correct the situation and then loose any opportunity to phase. Pooey!

There are no humans here. You're it. There is nothing seperate "out there".
Re: Body temperature affecting ease of separation?
Now you if you mention about temperature,I kinda thought of this at a point!
When i started to preactice the phase it was winter time, and outside it was so cold, and in my room or in the house was warm and nice, under the blanket was neither too cold neither too hot,and in that period i had the most succes with phasing!
Where i work is very cold during te winter, and i stand 8 hrs in a cold place,so when i get home is warm,my feet are getting warmer...i feel a sensation of good and peacefull!
So may be changes of temperature during the day could cause more ease to entry, from cold to hot!
it is nothing tested....yet,but i will see this winter how it goes:D
As Michael says, where he used to live is also very cold,so..changing body temperature could be a factor:)
wiiii
