Some ideas on indirect techniques

I have been experimenting with indirect techniques - such as imagining myself swimming, visualising objects, rubbing my hands and phantom wiggling - and I was wondering if, instead of doing general actions like those above, I could imagine myself doing reality checks? Has anyone tried this? Any thoughts on this? My thought is that imagining doing RCs would make you more likely to do them in non-lucid dreams if your attempts at phase entry fail.
So, instead of imagining myself rubbing my hands together, I could imagine myself trying the finger-poke reality test. Or examining my hands.
Instead of swimming, I could imagine myself jumping up and down, looking at my feet to see if the rate of descent is different from real life.
Instead of visualising an object like an apple, I could visualise a digital clock and use that for a reality check to see if the display changes when I look away.
Instead of imagining sounds such as a voice or melody, I could hear somebody saying, "You're dreaming! Do a reality check!"
Instead of imagining an object in my hand, I could try to feel the sensation of fingers on my nose about to do a nose-pinch test.
