Moon Phase and Lucid Dreaming/OBE Practice

The whole my life I was totally sure that the lunar phase had no effect on lucid dreaming practice. I thought it was very stupid to blame the Moon, when only you could make mistakes. Now I’m ready change my mind, but this story is much more complicated than you may expect. Before we start, don’t forget that I use the phase state term to unite all dissociative REM-sleep phenomena, like lucid dreaming, sleep paralysis, and out-of-body experience. Looking from physiology, it’s all almost the same, but may look a bit different in real practice.

There a lot of fans of this topic. Thousands of people around the world are literally obsessed with the phase, that’s why you can find so many popular movies and books based on this topic. Nothing unexpected – it’s one of the most amazing things you can experience in your life. Period! But when you try to do this, sometimes it’s easy, sometimes it’s hard, and sometimes it’s almost impossible for people. The whole my life I was totally sure that our success strictly depended only on three major factors: our skills, sleep duration, and our natural predisposition. It looks reasonable, but sometimes you do everything perfect, but it gets much harder than usually or doesn’t work at all. Many explain it by the Lunar phase. Is it legit?

A FEW RESEARCHES

First study. Christian Cajochen and his team from the University of Basel have found that melatonin levels drops as the full moon approaches, and, as a result, our sleep latency increases. On average, it takes five more minutes to fall asleep. Moreover, we sleep 20 minutes less and spend 30% less time in slow-wave sleep at the full moon.

Second study. Michael Smith and his team from University of Pennsylvania proved that we sleep 25 minutes less at the full moon, and REM sleep starts much less later than usually.

Sure, these researches are not about the phase, which includes lucid dreaming and OBE, but the phase sate depends on REM asleep a lot. Obviously, the overall sleep quality affects this practice too. So, if the phase of the Moon negatively affects our sleep, it should make our attempts less efficient.

I bet you’re already checking today’s Moon phase. Stop it! Yes, after reading these and some other articles, I found myself wrong. I was ready to live with this, but then I read other papers…

TAKE IT EASY! IT’S NOT SO SIMPLE

Third research. Martin Dresler and his team from the Max Planck Institute analyzed reports from 12 hundred people and found no correlation between the Moon and sleep quality. I would stick with this study, because Martin is a well-know scientist in lucid dreaming topic, but it’s getting worse, because in the fourth research, performed by Ciro della Monica and his team from The University of Surrey, it was found that slow-wave sleep and REM sleep were indeed reduced at the full moon. The problem is that it happened only for women, but for men it was 100% opposite! Yes, this research showed that in theory men should be able to get into the phase more easily at the full Moon night.

As you see, it’s a total disaster. Now we know why many people are so skeptical about scientists – their studies contradict with each other. We could finish on this disappointment, but that’s not the case. I know how to solve this problem, or at least how to obtain more research data.

Don’t forget that we have Project Elijah, where hundreds practitioners of lucid dreaming and out-of-body experience perform interesting tasks, which help us to research the phase state, many important aspects of it. We could use this project to figure out how the Moon affects not just human sleep, but the phase practice directly. As the head of Project Elijah, I see that it can be easily used for this goal.

It’s official, from this particular day we start to collect specific data, which in one or two years will give us the final answer about the Moon. We’re going to collect a few thousands reports related to this topic, because we want to know the answer for sure.

WHAT TO DO?

So, in the future we will know how the Moon affects the phase, but never forget that even in the worst case scenario the most of your success depends on your own actions anyways. Yes, some factors may affect it, but you should be just ready for it and act when you want.

It means, you should practice the phase state as usually, without looking at the night sky while falling asleep. Even if you’re a newbie, the first result may come in one or two nights, even full Moon nights. Do you need more details on how to do it? Just download our guidebook and follow it step by step. We also hold free webinars and have a practical quest at Project Elijah that will help you to learn all the techniques. Of course, If you are an experienced practitioner, you can directly take part in our studies right now: just sign up at the project.

See you in Project Elijah!
