I've been trying your techniques for a few days now and just last night I awoke after 3 hrs sleep.  I thought I moved but decided to try anyways...started sinking fast and getting really heavy, the whole time switching techniques.  None of them really seemed to take hold but something was working because I kept going deeper.

My heart felt like it was going to explode out of my chest from excitement.  I also heard noises and thought someone was breaking into my house.  Will I calm down after a few of these experiences?

1. Yes, after a few such cases it must to be easy to experience them again.
2. I think you were in a phase in this time. You should go ahead and try to separate
3. It's always not a matter if you moved.
4. Look at forced falling asleep technique and use it in most cases

Great, I will try forced falling asleep.  I tried several times to separate but nothing happened
