The Terms “Phaseâ€

Post by phasemancer »

I'm wondering where the terms come from. The only thing I've found so far is why to use a new term, but not why "the phase" was chosen. Anyone know?

Very good question, I never though about it myself :)

Well you're right about knowing the reason (one term to combine many "different" types of experiences which Micheal believes are the same) but the term "phase" wasn't really explained.

It is important to remember that these terms have mostly been converted from Russian so the Russian translation/equivalents may make more sense.

I guess the term "phase state" was chosen because "phase" means a distinct stage in a process. In this case the process is sleep and the "phase state" is a stage between wakefulness and sleep involving consciousness within a dream.

Anyway I hope that helped :)
