Lucid dreaming too often?

Post by Barnacle »

For some reason I become lucid every night, I always wake up remembering LDs and I have no idea how many LDs I have in a single night. For years now I've had a problem with drowsiness/lethargy during the day and my theory is that I'm not getting enough deep sleep because I'm lucid dreaming all the time. I went to an acupuncturist a while ago and she said thats why I'm drowsy all the time (cuz my sleep cycles are out of balance and I don't get enough deep sleep) but I hadn't even told her I'm drowsy, let alone that I lucid dream all the time so I think shes onto something. Am I completely fucked then? I was taking amphetamines to counteract the drowsiness for a couple of years but they give me bad insomnia and I ended up getting addicted to a wide variety of drugs to counteract that insomnia so I've quit all drugs now.

I read about galantamine, a drug that causes you to lucid dream more often. Are there drugs that do the opposite and force you to have less lucid dreams and get more deep sleep?

Are you sure you are not experiencing simulated lucidity which is dreaming of lucid dreaming? More on that here: http://obe4u.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=0

Try this next time you are lucid...

1. Go to the mirror
2. Ask your reflection why you are stuck with lucid dreams every night
3. Let your reflection give you a tablet to correct your "problem"
4. Force yourself awake by simply closing your eyes and thinking of waking up
5. Once you wake write down what your dream self said word for word and post the results here.

That above test will just make sure you really are lucid and can follow a plan of action. If you really wanna make them go away you can try degrading your dream recall. Don't recall them upon awakening or even think about dreams at all throughout the day. If you do find yourself lucid in a dream just lie down and fall asleep. That should get you out of the lucid habit :)

Yeah I get that quite a lot. I call them semi lucid dreams. Its complicated because I've been lucid dreaming so long that I often fly in non lucid dreams and when I do that, I become lucid but sometimes I'm not fully lucid because I'll still treat dream characters like they're real people.

Alright, I'll try that mirror thing next LD I'm in. Whenever I decide to learn a new skill, I end up testing it out within a few days so I know I can follow a plan of action is some of these lucid dreams.
