Problems with separation techniques...

So I've been attempting to lucid dream for about a month, and I've managed a couple successful and meaningful attempts. I have had one major problem though: complete separation. I've had two successful attempts were made through indirect phantom wiggling, then sitting up, and I've had several where I've become aware in my actual dreams. However, almost every night I come close to separation and fail multiple times. I get to a point where I begin to phantom wiggle and i slowly feel myself rising above my body, and when I feel I have moved seemingly a few feet from my body I have tried rolling out, sitting up, and continuing to levitate upwards, which all usually fail. When I attempt to roll out, I feel the initial roll but I end up resetting my position, and I feel as if I am rising upwards on my back again. When I attempt to sit up my whole body feels like it begins to rotate vertically, and sometimes it rotates to the point where I am upside down, but unable to do anything from that point. While levitating I usually come to an invisible wall that I'm unable to pass. In all these situations I do feel like I'm trying to gain movement as aggressively as I can, yet getting no where.
If anyone can offer any tips or help on how I can overcome this, it would be much appreciated! Thanks a lot...
