I had a bit of a different experience last weekend.
I went to bed a bit before my wife, and after about 15 min was in a fuzzy state when I felt myself FALLING. I woke up with a jolt, just as she came into the bedroom.

I had a first person view and while flying past the highest point (top) of the tower a dark creature attempted grabing me but I flew past it and it's claws missed me by an inch.
